Our Family Support Service team delivered Mind-Fit workshops at a number of Derby schools funded by the Neighbourhood Board Funding awarded by Normanton, Arboretum and Abbey Wards in the city.
The Mind-Fit programme is specifically aimed at children who are experiencing anxiety due to transitioning from primary into secondary school. The programme helps children manage their anxiety, teaching them how the brain works and supporting them in understanding and regulating their emotion, by adopting a range of techniques, including mindfulness and physical activity, to promote emotional wellbeing.
We’ve successfully delivered the programme to students at Bemrose School, Firs Primary School and Becket Primary School — and the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive! Students shared that they learned valuable skills such as how to calm themselves down, manage worries more effectively, and use helpful breathing techniques.
We hope to continue delivering the programme in other schools in the new academic year!
