Mentoring Service
Children and young people need the support of caring role models to grow into confident, successful adults. Growing up can be challenging as there are many roadblocks along the way. Learning how to plan and overcome these challenges takes time and support. Our mentoring service aims to match young people with caring mentors to help develop the character traits required for success in education and the world of work.
What is Our mentoring Service?
Our trained mentors offer one-to-one support and group mentoring to vulnerable 10–18-year-olds living in Derby City. We found our mix of one-to-one mentoring and group activities allows young people to develop new skills and form positive connections, it increases self-esteem and confidence, promotes diversity and helps young people develop emotionally, behaviourally and broaden outlooks.
one-to-one mentoring
Our mentors offer early intervention support that is tailored to suit the young persons needs. The mentor encourages positive choices and aspirations that will help young people identify their strengths, focus on positive elements of their lives and thus gain in confidence and self-esteem.
Group Activities
The Mentoring Service currently offers three group activities with each group supporting up to ten mentees. These specialist, structured activities are delivered in partnership with external providers to ensure that the additional and varied needs of the children are met.
